The Continuing Saga of The Lisa Renee Project from Wine O’Clock to Workout O’Clock at 62
Let’s talk about that moment when you realize you’ve perfected the art of knowing exactly what to do while expertly doing none of it. That’s been me – proud owner of a gorgeous home gym that’s primarily served as an expensive clothes hanger, and an encyclopedic knowledge of every diet known to humankind while maintaining my devoted relationship with wine o’clock.
But here’s the thing about being 62 – you’ve collected enough wisdom to know when it’s time to stop collecting wisdom and start actually using it. And that time? It’s now.
The Great Wine Divorce
First things first – I’m breaking up with wine. Not “cutting back” or “mindful drinking” or any other euphemism for “I’ll probably cave by Thursday.” Nope. Complete divorce. Wine and I had some good times, but like many relationships that have run their course, it’s time to say goodbye. And as with any breakup or divorce, you have to go through a separation process before it becomes final. My goal is to step it down, drinking at least one less glass every week until it’s zero.
I’m not sure how long it will take, depends on how much I cut back, but my goal is by the New Year 2025. Then…My new identity? Non-drinker. Simple as that. No drama, no negotiation, just a clean break.
And yes, I hear you laughing at the back – “Sure, Lisa Renee, we’ve heard this before.” But here’s what’s different: I’m not just changing what I do; I’m changing who I am. Plus, I’m documenting every step of this journey, so if I fail, I’m failing in HD. Nothing like a little public accountability to keep you honest!
Even so, as long as I don’t give up it’s still making progress. Quitting is no longer an option therefore no failure.
The Home Gym That’s About to Get the Shock of Its Life
Remember that home gym I mentioned? The one that’s been living its best life as a passive-aggressive reminder of my good intentions? Well, surprise! It’s about to be used for its actual purpose. I’ve spent years building this sanctuary of sweat, and now it’s time to actually make it earn its keep.
But here’s the real talk – I know there will be days when I’ll walk in there, look at the weights, and think, “Nope, not today, Satan.” And that’s okay. Because the next day, I’ll try again. The point isn’t perfection; it’s persistence. Progress over perfection, right?
The Keto Adventure: This Time with Actual Commitment
After trying every diet from A to Z (literally, from Atkins to Zone), I’ve settled on a ketogenic rotation diet. Why? Because it works when you actually do it. Revolutionary concept, I know. And yes, there will be days when I question all my life choices while watching someone eat pasta. But that’s part of the journey.
The Business of Transformation
Here’s where it gets really interesting – I’m turning this whole project into a business. I’ve already had some momentum with my YouTube channel and am ready to focus uploading audio to a podcast. And apparently, I’ve decided that transforming my entire life wasn’t challenging enough; I needed to add “build a business” to the mix. But here’s the beautiful part: every stumble, every victory, every “what was I thinking?” moment becomes content.
The Schedule That Doesn’t Bend (Much)
I’m creating a non-negotiable schedule. Because at 62, I’ve learned that “flexible” usually means “optional,” and “optional” usually means “not happening.” This includes:
- -Daily workouts (because if I wait, I’ll find 47 excuses not to do it)
- Strict sleep schedule (because beauty rest isn’t just for the young)
- Content creation time (because this project is too important and needs to be documented)
- Meal prep (because winging it leads to wine-ing it)
The Reality Check
Let’s be real for a moment. There will be days when everything goes sideways. Days when the motivation tank is empty, the body aches, and the old habits whisper sweet nothings in my ear. But here’s the difference this time – I’m not aiming for perfect. I’m aiming for persistent.
Because here’s what I’ve learned in 62 years: the only real failure is quitting. Missing a workout? That’s not failure. Having a bad food day? Not failure. Feeling like you’re not making progress fast enough? Definitely not failure. Giving up completely? That’s the only true failure.
The Social Media Chronicles
Yes, I’m documenting everything. Call it bravery, call it madness, call it a cry for help – I’m putting it all out there. The good, the bad, the “why did I think filming myself doing burpees was a good idea?” moments. Because maybe, just maybe, another woman out there needs to see that it’s never too late to start over.
The Message
They say you’re too old? Too set in your ways? Too far gone? Well, honey, hold my… water bottle. Because we’re about to show them what’s possible when you combine decades of wisdom with newfound determination.
Remember:
- Perfect is the enemy of progress
- Starting over is brave, not foolish
- Age is just a number (and mine happens to be fabulous)
- Every day is a new chance to begin again
The Invitation
So here’s my invitation to you – join me. Not next Monday, not after the holidays, not when you “get your act together.” Now. Today. As you are. Because transformation doesn’t require perfect conditions; it just requires starting.
And yes, there will be hiccups. There will be days when the only thing we crush is the couch. But we’ll get up the next day and try again. Because that’s what we do now. That’s who we are now.
Remember, you’re not too old, too out of shape, or too anything to start. You’re just right, right now, to begin.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, my home gym is giving me that “I’ve heard this all before” look, and I need to go prove it wrong.
Let’s do this thing. Imperfectly, inconsistently, but persistently. Because at the end of the day, done is better than perfect, and progress is better than quitting.
All my love,
Lisa Renee
P.S. They said I’m too old to start a transformation – but here we are. Breaking rules and taking names. Join me?
